Quebec, 1960s. Agathe, a child with asthma, lives with her mother Thérèse, a melancholic artist. At night, the incessant sound of a train whistle fuels her vision of a parallel world through which travelers from the future pass. As a teenager, Agathe meets Frank, a young writer, who helps her cross the boundary between the present and the future.
